And in truth, it starts tomorrow.....
One Man
One Million Words
One Year
Which sounds like an inordinate amount of work, but when it comes down to it, it's less than three thousand words a day....
Every day...
For a year...
Why would someone do this?
Because he attended something on the future of writing a while ago, in the North of England, and was told that there are no writers in the North, everyone is in the South, nothing gets written north of the Watford Gap. House cleaning and walking the dog are more important to some writers in the North apparently, an idea that still grinds enamel from his teeth when he hears it...
Curiously enough, He disagreed with this idea and set about coming up with some literary insanity, not just as a way of refuting the concept that no writing went on north of the border, but as a means of keeping himself sane (after all, if you keep the words in your head too long, eventually they dribble out of your ears and that just gets messy.).
So begins the year of words, and he'll need help from all those reading, in the form of story ideas, things people can't write themselves that he can help them with, ideas for books and films to review, and things he came up with himself. He may not post every day, and He may not be always ahead of his target, but he'll get there, and when he does...
He'll need people to celebrate with.
Tomorrow is the first day of the challenge, and He has nothing to write about yet. Tell everyone that He needs ideas, and he needs them now.
