Too damned Busy...

In the face of all the reviews that are now flooding in regarding Longcon, the question that's being repeatedly asked by a whole lot of people is, "How didn't I know about this...?"

This came as a bit of a revelation as I thought I'd advertised it reasonably well, but it appears not in the wider purview.  I know that there are places where the internet doesn't reach and personal contact really does, but I really had thought that I'd covered most of it.

So it's a thought from the south side more than anything else, I've got a facebook community page and I'm updating that as I go now, but I get less time on social media than I need, and between doing everything else I need to be doing, I don't get time to check things the way I probably need to.

The answer is that I need to prioritise.

Prioritising requires cutting something...

I can't do that, tried before, all it does is causing spiralling downwards because my own need to get things done is stronger than my self preservation...

It's not a rant, it's not an ask for help, for once, it's just the thoughts as they occur, there is something massive that's been playing on my mind for a while and I can't speak of it to anyone at the moment, I will when I can, but it's not something I can articulate at the moment.

This is John Dodd, in the Socialist Republic of South Yorkshire, and Goodnight England, Wherever you are...

  2. Possibly the answer is also finding and getting assistance in running the con and delegating jobs to them?

    Hi John,

I'm really happy to help with social media stuff (or other tasks if you need that particular help). I've just invited about 50 people to like the Facebook page, and I'd be more than happy to repost relevant blog articles there, or if you like add a group description.

The same goes for any Google plus community/page you might have (I couldn't find one).

  4. I think some help was what you needed I'm the run-up to the convention, especially with Expo close by. No shortage of offers on here, but add me to the list.

  6. I wait overnight to post and the gang all jump in before me. Just shows that sleep is for the weak.

For an event like LongCon, so close to Expo, you need an assistant or two. A cabal of veteran convention organisers, organized play convenors and stalwarts of the convention scene. A super-team of Robins to your Yorkshire Tea-flavoured Batman.

    Throw up the Dodd-Signal!

  7. I will be more than happy to help with tasks that are internet based and can be done remotely (from Brussels).
