On anniversaries
So every year I try and find somewhere that's either secluded or spectacular as a way of showing Jude how much she means to me and how much I couldn't do what I do every day without her with me.
The problem for the most part is that you start running out of places to go that are either secluded or spectacular, particularly when you're staying within sensible travelling distance.
Well, there's one that won't be within sensible travelling distance in the near future, but for now, I found a treehouse that wasn't in a tree...
But still a house amongst tree's...
This is the Hothorpe Hall Woodlands
Unassuming from the outside, big place to be sure, when you think of treehouses, you get ideas that they should be small things resting between branches, but you'd need a tree bigger than most to put this in it.
Because it's huge...
And open plan...
And even though there's other lodges within a short distance of this place, it's all angled and constructed so that you feel like you're the only people for miles...
Went for a meal on the Foxton locks, which was lovely, didn't really feel like walking to the top of all 17 locks after that...
This view was just fine...
Lovely place, thoroughly enjoyed it, would come again for certain, it's got the nice balance between being a modern building and yet still retaining the feel of a place where there's no other people for miles around (helicopters in the night notwithstanding), and you get the place to yourself, so there's no danger of being disturbed, which is how it should be when you want alone time with the person you love.
Liked it, Jude loved it, we may be back.
